Template Gallery Overview
• Team of 3 UX Designers, 3 Developers, 1 PM
• Timeline 3 months
The Template Gallery was a high-traffic entry point for users looking for pre-designed templates — a major driver of organic acquisition.
It was built on outdated iFrames, which hurt styling, performance, and SEO, and the team set out to modernize it while addressing that technical debt.
I worked on this as a supporting designer within a small cross-functional team, alongside my manager and another designer handling research.
Problem
SurveyMonkey's Template Gallery — a major organic acquisition entry point — ran on outdated iFrames that hurt performance, styling, and SEO.

Role
As a supporting designer, I owned responsive implementation and documentation, and worked jointly with another designer to run and synthesize two rounds of user testing.
The Decision
The first version didn't include a search bar — navigation relied on category browsing alone. Testing surfaced a clear signal that users expected search as a primary way to find templates. That finding drove its addition, and later testing confirmed search became the preferred navigation method once introduced.

Outcome
The redesign drove a 278% increase in organic sessions, a 39% drop in bounce rate, and a 1.8% lift in sign-up conversion — a team result, with my traceable contribution being the research synthesis behind the search decision and ownership of responsive execution.
